The Digital Magician isn't the kind of magician people expect at a family party. There's a mask, there's tech, and there's a fair chance your uncle's phone will do something it really shouldn't.
Milestone birthdays
Thirtieth, fortieth, fiftieth, sixtieth and on up. Big birthdays bring together people from different parts of someone's life (school friends, work friends, family, neighbours) and they don't always know each other. Close-up magic gets those groups chatting. A stage spot could even give the birthday person a moment in the spotlight, if they're up for it.
Anniversaries
Anniversary parties usually mix generations, and that's where tech magic is good fun. Younger guests think they know exactly what a phone can do. Older guests are often the most delighted when it does something impossible. Before long everyone's in the same conversation, trying to work it out together.
For a couple celebrating twenty-five or forty years together, a personal touch could turn up in the magic too, such as a date or a name. We'll talk through what's possible.
Other parties, at home or at a venue
Not every party needs a milestone. Engagement parties, retirement dos, a summer garden party, a big family get-together, or just a night with friends that you'd like to feel a bit special. If there's a crowd and a reason to celebrate, the close-up set fits. Tell us what you're planning and we'll be honest about whether it suits. A drinks party in the garden can suit it every bit as well as a smart hired room, as long as guests are mingling.
The close-up set works almost anywhere guests can gather: a marquee, a function room, a restaurant you've taken over for the night, a big kitchen. It needs no stage and no power.
A stage show needs a bit more room, plus somewhere for screens, so it's better suited to venues. We'll check the space with you before suggesting it.
A few planning tips
A few things make a big difference:
- Book magic for when guests are mingling, usually the first part of the evening
- Tell us about anyone who'd love to be involved, or anyone who'd rather not be
- If the magic is a surprise for the guest of honour, say so and we'll keep it quiet
- Give us rough guest numbers so we can suggest the right length of booking
The mask is half the fun
At a private party, the mask turns into a talking point all of its own. Guests spend half the night guessing who's under it. They won't find out, but it's lovely watching them try. You can read a bit more on who The Digital Magician is, or at least what we're prepared to say.
When you're ready, send your date, location and guest numbers through the quote form. We'll come back to you with availability and a quote.
