We book them for conferences, launches, client nights and staff parties right across the capital, from a riverside drinks reception in the City to an awards dinner out east. Here's how it tends to play out in London.
Big show floors in Docklands and Westminster
If your stand is at ExCeL London in the Royal Docks, you're up against hundreds of other exhibitors all chasing the same visitors. A magician working the edge of your stand, borrowing someone's phone and doing something they can't explain, is a very simple way to stop people walking past. We've written more about that on our exhibitions and trade shows page.
Conferences at the QEII Centre, opposite Westminster Abbey, are a different beast. Delegates are there to learn, so the magic sits best in the breaks and at the evening reception. Some organisers also slot in a short spot on the main stage to wake the room up after lunch.
City drinks and client dinners
The City and Canary Wharf run on hospitality. Banks, law firms and insurers all entertain clients, and the guest lists are often people who've been to a hundred of these evenings. Old Billingsgate, the listed former fish market on the river near Tower Hill, is exactly the sort of place those nights happen.
Roaming close-up suits this crowd. The Digital Magician moves between groups, and a message might turn up on somebody's own lock screen, or a photo could change while they're holding it. It gives people something to talk about that isn't work. And it's quiet enough not to drown out the conversations your sales team actually came for.
Launching something in the capital
Shoreditch, King's Cross and the West End see a steady stream of launches: apps, gadgets, rebrands. A bespoke product reveal builds the magic around your logo, product or message, so the big moment is your thing appearing on screen rather than a generic trick.
Give us as much notice as you can for this. Building something around a brand properly takes time, and we'd rather do it well.
Not just for work
Plenty of Londoners book The Digital Magician for themselves too. A fortieth in a private dining room, a wedding drinks reception in Clerkenwell, an anniversary party at home in Dulwich. Same masked act, smaller audience.
Pop us a message with your date and venue and we'll check the diary and come back with a quote.
