Corporate & private events in Leeds

Corporate magician for Leeds events

Leeds has quietly become one of the biggest business cities in the North, with banks, legal firms and a growing tech scene clustered around the station and the South Bank. Its events calendar has grown to match. The Digital Magician is a masked act who performs with phones, iPads, laptops and screens, and they suit the slightly unexpected kind of entertainment Leeds companies keep asking us for.

So here are a few notes for anyone planning something in the city, starting with the big rooms and working down to parties at home.

Bigger events at Leeds Dock

The Royal Armouries at Leeds Dock has the city's largest dedicated conference space, with halls that take hundreds of delegates. It gets used for association conferences, gala dinners and award ceremonies, and you can walk or hop on the water taxi from the station.

In a hall that size, the stage show makes sense. Cameras and screens put the magic up big, so table thirty sees exactly what table one sees. Nobody at the back spends the evening asking what just happened.

Right by the station

The Queens on City Square has its own entrance from the station concourse, which is one reason so many regional meetings and dinners end up there. Its ballroom is a classic setting for a Christmas do or an awards night. Plenty of firms use it for client lunches too, when the guests are only in town for the day.

Here, roaming close-up during drinks is the usual starting point. A guest's phone might start behaving very oddly in their hand. Then everyone wants to know who's under the mask, and nobody can tell them.

That curiosity carries nicely into dinner, which is handy if you've got speeches to get through.

Who books in Leeds

Mostly finance and legal firms entertaining clients, retailers with head offices in the region, and digital businesses after a team night that doesn't feel like every other team night. Recruitment firms are big on it too, as their sales floors tend to like a bit of a show.

There's the odd product launch as well. For those we'll sketch out what a bespoke reveal could look like with your logo or message at the centre of it. Product, audience and room size all shape what's possible, so bring us in early.

Private parties as well

Not everything is corporate. We book The Digital Magician for weddings out in the Dales, fiftieth birthdays in Headingley and the occasional surprise party at home in Roundhay. Small groups work just as well as big ones, as the magic happens right in people's hands.

Tell us the date and venue, and we'll check the diary and send over a quote.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you cover Bradford, Harrogate and York as well?

Yes. Anywhere in Yorkshire is fine, and further afield too.

Can the act work at a seated dinner?

Yes. Close-up can move from table to table between courses, or there's the after-dinner show on screen.

Will guests find out who it is?

No. The mask stays on, and the identity stays a secret.
