The Digital Magician gives them something they haven't seen. A masked performer, identity unknown, doing magic with phones, iPads, laptops and cameras. Below is how it usually fits into the city's biggest kinds of event.
Getting footfall at the NEC
NEC halls are enormous and a stand can feel like a small island. The trick (sorry) is giving people a reason to stop for a minute. Magic with a visitor's own phone does that, and once they're standing there your team can start a proper conversation. Visitors at a big trade show have usually walked miles by lunchtime, so anything that makes them laugh is welcome.
Work out what you want from it before the show. More badge scans, longer chats or a moment people link back to your product all need a slightly different approach, and our trade show page has more on planning it.
Conferences at the ICC and along Broad Street
The ICC hosts big association and medical conferences, and the Hyatt Regency next door picks up lots of the smaller meetings and dinners. For this sort of event the magic usually lives in the networking breaks or at the evening do.
Some organisers also use a short stage spot as an energy boost before the afternoon sessions. Because everything is shown on screen, a few hundred people can follow it at once.
If you'd like that, mention it to the venue's AV team early, as the show runs through the screens.
Firms around Colmore Row
Birmingham's business district has grown fast, with banks, law firms and professional services filling the offices around Colmore Row and Snow Hill. Client hospitality and staff parties are where most of our enquiries from those firms come from.
For an awards night or Christmas party, mixing close-up during the reception with a short show after dinner works well. Guests get the personal moments early on and the big-screen stuff once they're sat down.
December gets booked up early in Birmingham, so if you're planning a Christmas party, get the date in the diary before the autumn.
Private bookings
Birthdays, weddings and family celebrations across the West Midlands, from Edgbaston to Sutton Coldfield. The same act that works an exhibition hall is just as happy in a function room above a pub.
Tell us a bit about the party and we'll check the date for you.
